AVATAR–

Mall of Asia

According to a not so reliable source last weekend na daw showing ang avatar in 3d or not and any other movies dahil nagdiva si Mother Lily na iprioritize ang MMFF.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Mother Lily

Dumating ako dun ng 930pm, sold out hanggang last full show. Pero dahil matalino ako  bumili ako ng pang next day. Buti nalang kase sa susunod na araw ang may seats na lang is yung last full show na worth 741 pesos. Okay, so next day.

imax

Sa loob ng sinehan. Madami nagpipicturan dahil naka 3d glasses sila.

Okay, unang eksena. Pinakita ang planetang “Pandora”.

Fast editing ng trees, soldiers in space, etc.

trees galore

Ang susunod na mga eksena ay very “Matrix” like. After a couple of sequences may water drop. Putangina ang angas.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is how a 3d movie should start.

The project involves making an Avatar by combining human and alien DNA, like a fetus sa sinapupunan ng isang mommy, ginogrow nila ito sa isang high tech water tank.

Once grown, a human gets to control it. (think “The Surrogates” and “Matrix” ) Dahil kamukha nito ang mga tunay na natives ng planetang ito, ang goal ng humans is to get to know the aliens and get them to trust the Avatars (or  as the aliens call them , the”Sky people)  para mapakiusapan nila na lumipat ng tirahan ang mga ito kase yung tinitirahan nila ay may mahalagang mineral underneath na kelangan at apparently gusto lang makuha ng mga military.

Jake now gets to get into a glorified tanning machine

Being paraplegic for how many years he gets too excited kasi he finally has working legs thanks to the avatar.

grace and jake talking

Grace is a scientist who wrote a book on the native people of pandora, the na’vi tribe.

Grace in her avatar form kasama yung Na’vi People

She has also worked closely with them before kaya yung iba sa mga Na’vi marunong mag english.

Sigourney Weaver as Grace

Medyo skeptical si Grace kay Jake but eventually learns to like him in a “the more you hate, the more you love” kind of way.

Love Hate relationship

No, they don’t have a thing. Ang sexy pa din ni Sigourney Weaver. Cut to Jake in a small room with Colonel Miles Quaritch played by Stephen Lang.

Colonel and Jake

Ayun.

Nung priness release nila na 15 years in the making I guess nag concentrate sila sa graphics at hindi sa story.

Don’t get me wrong.  I  fucking loved the movie. The script may have been shallow, but trust me you wouldn’t mind the corny script. Its too visually beautiful that you wouldn’t care.

Nung sinabi ni james cameron na magiging successful to, he delivered. Nay, he kicked ass while delivering it.

Avatar is great. It may have been the most visually beautiful movie of the year. Wait, actually, it is. Very well thought ang graphics, for 3d talaga and the editing was clean and it wasn’t too fast or dragging.

Zoe Seldana who played Neytiri was stunning and did a good job in acting. Panalo talaga.

When I watched the movie I was beside a CG artist at nakakatuwa yung reaction niya. Itong taong to galing sa isang Hollywood run company.

natives

ang Pandora

floating rocks of pandora

ang creatures

at ang mga tanim.

Believe the hype.Watch it. It seriously is beautiful. Don’t mind the corny dialogue. It doesn’t matter. We have yet to see a perfect film na lahat ng aspect ma bubull’s eye niya. Pero i’d like to believe na makakakita ako ng pelikulang perfect in my lifetime.

(not that i would know) Mas maaapreciate niyo siya dahil this is, in fact, meant to be a 3d film. It defeats the purpose if you watch it in a normal cinema.

This movie is how you properly make a 3d film. Hindi ako  masiyado nakakaappreciate ng pelikula dahil pinanganak ako na pintasera but this literally took my breath away.

O.A. lang diba pero seryoso, after the overrated Titanic, I now see James Cameron in a different light.

It’s either naka LSD siya nung ginawa niya to o isa lang talaga siyang henyo at hanep siya magimagine.

lsd

It’s worth the 401 pesos. Watch it.

Rating:

4/5   yan ang 3d.

  1. ok sabi ko diba i’ll take your word for it kaya manunuod na kami mamaya. kaso 2D lang kasi nakaka-high talaga ang presyo ng IMAX haha. thanks

  2. LOL, I wish I stumbled upon your blog just after I watched Avatar.. (Believe it or not I found your blog care of Ms Ja-jajamby Madrigal search – and loved your review of New Moon)

Yeahh, Avatar rocks big time.. I wasnt able to watch it in 3D due to budget mode reasons but at least was able to in the Megamall Cinema 1-3D. Not the same as Imax syempre but well, I still f*c*n love it! It wont do justice to not see it in 3D, as I repeatedly said it to my officemates who only watched it in 2D. sorry, their loss eh?

Sayang Tito Boy, 252 lang yun 3D ng Megamall! Hmm sayang lang I missed Alice in Wonderland – tho they say meron pa daw. Kasi even if the story what somewhat disappointing, angas din daw ang effects.

So maybe Abangan ko nalang yun Iron Man 2 OR (drumrolls) Resident Evil 4.. The whole movie was shot in this -idk- technology na nakaspecific sa 3D churva so dapat maganda talaga sya.
